ICESat-2 on-orbit performance, data discoveries and early science
ICESat-2 on-orbit performance, data discoveries and early science
Session ID#: 80636
Session Description:
NASA’s Ice, Cloud, and land Elevation Satellite (ICESat-2) launched on September 2018 is continuing the tradition established by ICESat (2003-2009) of providing multi-year, global elevation measurements to support diverse scientific applications and investigations. Early on-orbit discoveries support advancement in cryospheric discovery, terrestrial ecology, hydrology and oceanography. These science studies leverage the high spatial and temporal resolution of the unique ICESat-2 laser altimeter, ATLAS (Advanced Topographic Laser Altimeter System), a state-of-the-art photon sensitive sensor.
This poster-only session will provide a forum for the current scientific and technological achievements associated with on-board algorithm development, instrumentation performance, and data product analysis over the broad range of surface measurements; from sea ice to inland water. Submissions associated with the satellite data usage in support of terrestrial, hydrologic, atmospheric and oceanographic applications are encouraged as are those associated with on-orbit calibration/validation techniques and data distribution.
