WCRP-Progress in Earth system Climate Science and Predictions by USGCRP
Session ID#: 81229
Session Description:
On the occasion of the 40th Anniversary of the World Climate Research Programme (WCRP), this session will showcase US Global Change Research Program (USGCRP) contributions to advance Earth system climate science and predictions within the scope of individual U.S. agency missions. The session will focus on exemplary research milestones and projects depicting scientific progress supported by USGCRP agencies, such as those currently involved in the Interagency Group for Integrative Modeling. This includes process research to advance foundational understanding of climate predictability and coupling of Earth system components, development of advanced model and prediction systems and their applications. Presentations may provide overviews of USGCRP legacy achievements as well as emerging findings and opportunities, in the broader WRCP context.
A focus will be on the strategic involvement of agency partners through key agency programs. Individual Agency town hall meetings will allow for community discussions of each Agency’s priorities.
