How Space Agencies are Responding to the Grand Challenges in Earth System Science

Session ID#: 82824

Session Description:
This session is aimed at conveying how space programs from many space agencies respond to the newly identified Grand Challenges in Earth Observation, as defined by GCOS, WCRP, Future Earth, UNSDGs and the observational needs expressed by the scientific community.

The session will focus on the Energy, Water and Carbon Cycles, as well as global environmental changes occurring in the Earth System under natural and anthropogenic forcings,  and how Space Agencies’ planned Earth observation programs respond to observational requirements to support process understanding, forecasting, mitigating societal impacts and adapting.
