Urban Geohazards Assessment and Mitigation Integrated Approach for Resilient and Sustainable Cities
Session ID#: 82655
Session Description:
Assessment of the impact of cascading events that may result from earthquakes, tsunamis, landslides, cyclones, storms as well as other geohazards and meteorological hazards on the cities, is a fundamental issue for the understanding of the full scope of hazard and risk in there and for the development of strategies for preparedness and resilience of sustainable cities, also in view of the increasing rate of urbanization foreseen in the next future. The main objective of this session is to provide a discussion environment on integrated approaches to build resilience and help reduce risk for the cities of today and tomorrow and their crucial infrastructure facilities against the impacts of geohazards. The papers presenting examples of multidisciplinary approaches for development of assessing methods and of mitigation strategies and illustrative case studies will enrich and strengthen the discussion.
