The Formation and Evolution of the Continental Crust and its influence on the Hydro- and Atmosphere.
Session ID#: 83637
Session Description:
The continental crust of Earth is unique among the rocky planets. It has had an important role in modifying the composition of the hydrosphere and atmosphere through Earth history. However, the processes and the timing of when the continental crust formed remain the subject of vigorous debate. Similarly, our understanding of the volume and compositional evolution of the continental crust through Earth history remains poorly constrained. In this session we welcome interdisciplinary geological, geophysical, geodynamical and geochemical studies that shed light on how and when the continental crust was formed and modified and on its important role in Earthâs evolution.
