The Pathways through which Solar Activity Impact on the Earth Climate

Abstract:
Based on the analysis of observational data, the possible influence of key factors of solar activity on earth's climate, the sensitive region of climate system's response to solar activity, and the channel of solar activity signal propagation in the climate system are discussed on the interannual and interdecadal scale. The results showed that although the signal of solar activity changes is very weak globally, significant solar activity signals can be detected in the polar regions, equatorial tropical regions and mid-latitude jet stream regions. The polar subauroras, the North Atlantic, the North Pacific and the equatorial tropical Pacific are sensitive regions of the climate system to solar activity signals. There are quasi-10-year cycles in the modes of oceanic and atmospheric systems in some regions, which may be related to the periodic changes of solar activity. The influence of solar activity changes on the climate system has a certain lag effect, which may be because the climate system has a process of energy accumulation in response to extra solar forcing. The periodic signal of the sun is common in the edge of monsoon activity and the monsoon rain belt. Therefore, the monsoon activity area may be an important channel for the solar activity to influence the global climate. How the signal of solar activity can stimulate the abnormality of the sensitive weather and climate system, amplify its climate effect through the key sea-air interaction process, and influence the monsoon activity area and global climate more widely is a problem that needs further study in the future.
