How to Figure Out if Waves in Space are Actually Waves

Abstract:

We are looking for waves in different parts of space and deciding if the waves are actually waves. To find the waves, we are taking a few steps towards the Sun and a few steps away from the Sun using old and new computers that can see in space. The computers tell us things about the waves that only make sense if we draw very round pictures. Drawing pictures is very hard because you have to first decide what a good wave picture looks like. Once you decide, you can look for wave pictures in places that only a few people have bothered to look. There are lots of waves near where large things get in the way of wind from the Sun, so that is the type of place where we start looking. The waves we find there can help us learn cool things about space and how to know when space is safe for people and computers. By drawing pictures in the same way, wave people can better understand each other's waves.
