The Impacts of Secondary Organic Aerosols on Cloud Formation and the Associated In-Cloud Aqueous Reactions
The Impacts of Secondary Organic Aerosols on Cloud Formation and the Associated In-Cloud Aqueous Reactions
Session ID#: 117756
Session Description:
Recent evidence from both field and lab studies has shown that Secondary Organic Aerosols (SOA) can influence the formation of droplets and ice crystals in clouds, while the total magnitude of this indirect effect is still uncertain. We encourage studies related to field observations, lab experiments, model simulations or an intersection of these to investigate the role of SOA on cloud processes for this session. Relevant topics include, but are not limited to: (1) SOA’s influence on CCN or INPs, (2) aqueous reactions or formation of SOA in clouds, (3) modeling of regional scale SOA-Cloud interactions or (4) modeling of global indirect radiative effects of SOA.
