The Globally Connected Corona and Heliosphere

Session ID#: 122055

Session Description:
New observations from recent, planned, and proposed space missions and ground-based projects offer the opportunity to study the complete solar corona and its link to the heliosphere as a globally connected system. Physical processes that occur at the solar surface frequently determine the dynamics of the corona and the evolution of transient events throughout the heliosphere and the distribution of magnetic flux at the poles, is a fundamental constraint on heliospheric open magnetic flux. This session explores the deep connections that bind the corona into a single system. We invite contributions that explore global-scale coronal physics through models, observations, and possible new missions or projects, tying together phenomena across scales and regions in the solar atmosphere, and developing coherent understanding.
