Biogeochemistry of multi-contaminants and emerging pollutants in the critical zone: Reactivity and Treatment Solutions
Biogeochemistry of multi-contaminants and emerging pollutants in the critical zone: Reactivity and Treatment Solutions
Session ID#: 118723
Session Description:
The contamination of the environment (soil, water, air) with diverse environmental toxicants may causes adverse effects such as chronic toxicity, and endocrine disruption activity. Moreover, our knowledge regarding the fate and impact of emerging pollutants in complex and natural environments remains scarce. The aim of this session is to address the understanding of the bio-physical-chemical mechanisms controlling the mobility/accumulation, transformation, (eco)toxicity of these substances and associated risks (incl.) as well as treatment /remediation solutions. We encourage submissions examining all aspects of the biogeochemical fate of pollutants (alone or as a multi component matrix) and/or of treatment strategies. We are interested in lab - and pilot- scale experiments as well as field characterisation/trials.
