Data Fusion in Earth Observation Science

Session ID#: 119829

Session Description:
The rapid increase in availability, volume, and variety of public and commercial Earth observation (EO) datasets has given rise to an explosion of sensor data fusion in the geosciences. Combining the power of datasets acquired by different types of satellites—at different spatial, spectral, and temporal resolutions—is leading to the creation of enhanced higher level data products that provide even greater insight than their input components analyzed separately. This session highlights research conducted using data fusion across satellite-based multispectral optical and radar, along with airborne and ground-based datasets, across a range of fields to demonstrate the broad applications for which this technique can be utilized.
