Amplifying Parker Solar Probe Science with Contextual Simulations and Supporting Observations

Session ID#: 122243

Session Description:
As the Parker Solar Probe (PSP) continues its pioneering journey to regions of unprecedented proximity to the Sun, it becomes increasingly important to establish large-scale and meso-scale context for the mission's observations in order to leverage its scientific return. These contextual and supporting studies can improve our understanding of phenomena such as magnetic switchbacks, solar angular momentum loss, energetic particle transport, coronal heating, and solar wind acceleration. This session invites multifaceted contributions that amplify PSP science, and can be based on numerical simulations, theory, or remote sensing observations, as well as in-situ observations by spacecraft at vantage points removed from PSP’s, including Solar Orbiter and the rest of the Heliophysics System Observatory
