From the field, to the lab, to the classroom: Innovative education for the future hydrologist and hydrogeologist

Session ID#: 122294

Session Description:
Hydrology and hydrogeology represent interdisciplinary topics that appear in a variety of departments and at multiple levels. Given the inherent interdisciplinarity of these topics, hydrology and hydrogeology educators around the world have benefitted from learning from each other, sharing resources and approaches to training and mentoring undergraduates and K12 students. Our goal within this session is to showcase and share the work of hydrologists and hydrogeologists in the educational arena, spanning the field, the lab, and the classroom. We invite submissions that highlight innovative approaches to teaching hydrologic concepts, building quantitative skills within hydrology and hydrogeology courses, recommendations for improving hydrology education, and best practices for mentoring of K12, undergraduate, and graduate students pursuing hydrology and hydrogeology research. We also welcome submissions that discuss hydrology education and mentoring in the era of the COVID-19 pandemic.
