Interdisciplinary identities in geoscience: promoting breadth and depth in scientific endeavors

Session ID#: 122613

Session Description:
Important advances in geoscience have stemmed from interdisciplinary teams, but the next generation of geoscientists are often advised to avoid being viewed as having too much breadth and not enough depth. We welcome submissions that discuss strategies to advance, amplify, and celebrate science beyond your discipline; how to recruit, support and promote the next generation of scientists and build meaningful interdisciplinary collaborations and teams; and how to broaden participation beyond the identities of the dominant groups in science. Submissions presenting new thinking on how personal and professional identities are perceived and impact science advancement are encouraged.
