Accessing Broader User Communities for Earth Observations of Terrestrial Systems

Session ID#: 124474

Session Description:
As the quantity and quality of Earth observations (EO) improve, there is a gap between actual and potential users, which is a limiting factor in the practical application of observational data for societal benefit. In response, the EO capacity building community is investing in the growth of individual and institutional knowledge of EO data, services, and applications. The wide range of terrestrial observations are fertile ground for a number of potential use cases, such as change analyses, carbon/forest monitoring, water resources management, and climate adaptation and mitigation. These use cases and associated user groups have driven the demand for novel and successful capacity development schemes related to terrestrial systems. This session will provide a forum for networks, organizations, and individuals to share best practices, new initiatives, and case studies that will guide the capacity building community towards greater adoption of EO for terrestrial systems.
