Climate Change & Climate Action Leadership in Illinois

Session ID#: 157767

Session Description:
Illinois and the broader Midwest have already experienced significant impacts from climate change. From more frequent and intense precipitation leading to destructive floods to excessive heat exposure in both urban and rural areas, all of which exacerbate existing environmental justice issues disproportionately impacting our most vulnerability communities. These impacts are expected to increase as our climate continues to change through the 21st Century. However, Illinois leaders have taken up the task of building resilience through climate adaptation and mitigation, from local- to national-levels. There is much work left to do, but Illinois has emerged as a global climate leader on climate.

In this session we will hear from policymakers and scientists from around Illinois on the work they are doing on climate, and we will discuss the necessity of continued collaboration between scientists and policymakers to ensure a safe and vibrant future for future generations.
