Stratospheric composition changes: observations and modeling of special events, feedback mechanisms, and long-term trends
Stratospheric composition changes: observations and modeling of special events, feedback mechanisms, and long-term trends
Session ID#: 158513
Session Description:
In this session, we invite papers that study changes in upper tropospheric, stratospheric, and mesospheric composition (e.g. ozone, water vapor, aerosols) and temperature using measurements and model simulations. This includes studies that focus on the effects of anomalous and disruptive events that perturb stratospheric dynamics and subsequently produce anomalies in atmospheric composition. Among these phenomena are megafires, volcanic eruptions, variations in the strength of the polar stratospheric vortex, changes in concentration of ozone depleting substances, and disruptions in the QBO circulation. Attribution of observed and modeled changes and their links to the climate change on various temporal and spatial scales will be discussed in this session.
