Advances in Earth Observation and Modeling for Agriculture, Forestry, and Urban Applications
Session ID#: 159302
Session Description:
Synopsis: Humans have transformed the Planet Earth through agriculture, forestry, and urbanization. Spaceborne Earth observations have been used for characterizing and monitoring of agriculture, forestry, and urban areas, which has resulted in many data products. The assimilation of Earth observations and data products into various models have also improved modeling and forecasting capacity and skill for agriculture, forestry, and urban applications. This session welcomes contributions that (1) develop new Earth observation data products for agriculture, forestry, and urban areas from diverse satellite platforms, including but not limited to, TROPOMI, OCO-2/3, SMOS, MODIS, Landsat, Sentinel-1/2, ALOS/PALSAR, GEDI, and GeoCarb, (2) assimilate Earth observation data products into various models to predict the spatial-temporal dynamics of agriculture, forestry, and urban areas, and (3) develop decision support tools that improve management and planning of agriculture, forestry, and urban areas in support of the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals.
