P022
Perseverance at Jezero Delta

Session ID#: 159976

Session Description:
In April 2022, the Perseverance rover arrived at the Jezero Delta, a key part of the M2020 mission, accompanied by the Ingenuity helicopter. The rover traveled 10km in 410 sols to get to the delta front from the Octavia E. Butler landing site. It has collected samples that may be returned to Earth with the Mars Sample Return mission. Proximity and remote science instruments have been used to document the samples and their geological context. The rover has acquired the first sounds of Mars, and the atmospheric suite has been used to monitor dust devil activity. This session invites reports from researchers on the scientific results of the mission so far. This includes reports of the samples collected so far, investigations within the Seitah and Maaz regions and the first in situ scientific results from the Jezero delta, an area that was chosen due to its high habitability potential.
