Ecosystem Services in the Era of Climate Change: Carbon Neutrality, Resilient Pathways, and Future Policy
Session ID#: 160269
Session Description:
Climate change is rapidly becoming a significant threat to humans and the natural environment. In particular, the ecosystem services that nature provides to humans are also affected, and this should be evaluated through various methodological approaches. Ecosystem services in peatlands, wetlands, and forests are more important in the era of climate change. They have a role in carbon sequestration, preventing climate disasters, and contributing to a safe society. We welcome presentations on the ecosystem assessment and climate risk study of the forest, wetland, peatland, cropland, settlements, and grassland in various regions. We encourage the presentations on local assessment cases with newly developing indicators and coupled social-ecosystem approaches. The session is aimed to address the direct and indirect impacts of climatic and socio-environmental changes on the functioning and resilience of the various ecosystems, for specific recommendations on carbon neutrality, resilient adaptation, restoration, and conservation.
