Environmental changes and human migration: Advances in modeling and analysis
Session ID#: 156714
Session Description:
One of the most dramatic manifestations of global environmental changes is human migration. Despite recent advances in linking global environmental changes and human migration, many issues remain unresolved, e.g., establishing causal linkages among different factors, determining the two-way interactions between migration and the environment, and developing an integrative theory and predictive models. This problem is decidedly transdisciplinary; as such, we seek contributions from a wide range of disciplines in this session: sociology, anthropology, public policies, economics, hydrology, ecology, climate modeling, coupled natural-human modeling, and the like. We are particularly interested in novel dataset and analyses; systematic, quantitative, and generalizable methodologies; application of such methodology to case studies are also greatly welcomed.
