First Science Results from the Daniel K. Inouye Solar Telescope

Session ID#: 161316

Session Description:
Science observations have recently begun at the NSF 4-m Daniel K. Inouye Solar Telescope (DKIST). Proposals submitted by the community have been executed at the telescope since February 2022, and will continue throughout the summer. DKIST images have achieved spatial resolution of 0.025 arcsec, and observations of the vector magnetic field in the photosphere and the chromosphere were conducted. The first coronagraphic observations by DKIST have successfully mapped linearly polarized signals in the off-limb corona, and the clear detection of the Si IX 3.9 micron line now also extends ground-based coronal observations into the mid-wave infrared. Finally, the first simultaneous, multi-wavelength integral-field-based coronal observations were obtained.

We invite all scientists awarded observing time during these months, as well as DKIST instrument scientists, to contribute to this session to present their first data and results, and discuss the exciting opportunities offered by this transformative facility.
