Fifth National Climate Assessment: Updates and Opportunities for the AGU Community

Session ID#: 161480

Session Description:
The Fifth National Climate Assessment (NCA5) is currently being developed, with an open public comment period expected to run concurrently to AGU 2022. The National Climate Assessment is the preeminent source of climate information for the United States. Led by the U.S. Global Change Research Program (USGCRP), the report captures current knowledge on climate science, impacts, and responses to climate change across the Nation, with the goal of supporting decision-making from a range of sectors.

In this union session, NCA5 authors will present the current status of their chapters, including lessons learned from public engagement workshops, what is new since NCA4, and how the report highlights cross-cutting themes. USGCRP leadership will outline opportunities for the AGU community to engage in the development of NCA5 as well as next steps in the report development process. All will engage with participants through a panel and open discussion at the end of the session.
