Climate Empowerment: Exploring Professional Development Innovations to Engage Educators and the Future Workforce in Climate Solutions

Session ID#: 162148

Session Description:
With the global challenge of climate change, cities, states, and corporations are realizing the need to transition to a low-carbon economy through the use of renewable energy, efficiency, and other innovations. Demand is growing for employees with STEM talent as the workforce expands with opportunities to pursue green careers. Today’s students must be prepared to address and innovate solutions in the face of climate change. Educators at all levels have the potential to equip their graduates with the skills necessary to create and find well-paying jobs that are focused on creating a more climate literate society, a clean energy economy, and more resilient communities. This session will highlight interdisciplinary efforts to enhance and integrate innovative content and pedagogy with STEM course curricula, and will showcase higher education initiatives that prepare students for a climate-friendly and more competitive U.S. economy.
