Magmatic through metamorphic processes recorded in granitic rocks and minerals
Session ID#: 162721
Session Description:
Globally, granitic rocks are a nexus between deep crustal roots, volcanism, heat and mass transfer into host rocks, hydrothermal systems, and accompanying critical metal ore formation. Geochemical, geochronologic, field, and experimental observations of granitic rocks and their mineral constituents can address many questions related to the processes of crustal magmatism. This includes plutonic-volcanic connections, magma accumulation rates throughout the crustal column, thermal histories, magma residence conditions recorded in both major and accessory minerals, and magmatic through metamorphic chemical and textural modification. We solicit work that broadly touches on these topics and brings diverse and novel tools, perspectives, and opinions to discuss the genesis and evolution of granitic rocks.
