Session Abstract
Whether part of the faculty or full-time administrators, anecdotes abound that historians seem to find special success in administrative roles. Does our disciplinary training give us a special advantage? What have experienced administrators learned about this specific type of academic work that could help guide historians contemplating an administrative path? This panel brings together administrators from different types of institutions and in different positions to talk about their experiences and probe the relationship between disciplinary perspectives and approaches to professional roles.
