This presentation will highlight UOP’s role in advancing membrane technology for large scale gas separations. UOP’s SeparexTM membrane technology has been a key enabler for effective and efficient separation of impurities such as CO2, H2S, and and H2O from natural gas for on-shore and off-shore applications, particularly for off-shore floating, production, storage, and offloading (FPSO) vessels that require lower-weight and smaller-footprint membrane systems. Innovation in membrane materials, equipment, and process technology integration has played a major role to enable large-scale applications of membranes in natural gas upgrading, H2 recovery, and will continue to be key to enable new separations such as low energy intensity olefin/paraffin separations.
