Droplet velocities are measured by PDA and droplets smaller than 4 ƒÝm are used to estimate the flame gas velocity. Gas temperature is measured in the particle-laden spray flame by FTIR emission/transmission spectroscopy. SAXS is used to measure simultaneously the evolution of primary-particle diameter, mass-fractal dimension, geometric standard deviation, particle volume fraction, particle number concentration, agglomerate size and number of primary particles per agglomerate of zirconia in the spray flame. For SAXS, a third-generation synchrotron source is used where nano- to microscales measurement were possible. PDA, FTIR and SAXS measurements are coupled to study particle growth as function of time in a defined temperature and velocity profile. Extended Abstract Status: File Uploaded | ||
