Preliminary Program subject to change
TWA05 Characterization of Particles Made by Flame Synthesis
OverviewNano-structured powders from flames often display a hierarchy of structure from primary particles on the nano-scale, aggregates on the colloidal scale and agglomerates often on the 10's to 100's of micron scale. Additionally, surface chemistry and composition are of pivotal importance to application of these nano-powders. Finally, phase information is crucial to applications such as for pigmentary titania. This session will include talks focusing on the characterization of powders produced in flames. Some emphasis will be given to the description of hierarchical structure including quantification of fractal dimension and branch content. The session will include talks concerning both inorganic and organic (carbon soot) materials as well as characterization of products associated with these powders such as polymer nano-composites.
