Human Figure Typeface Sculpture

Jeon creates sculptural ceramic objects that reframes historical figurative ceramics from a contemporary, cross-cultural perspective. In Human Figure Typeface Sculpture, she combines figurative sculptures with the Hangul Alphabet typeface that speak of her bicultural and bilingual experiences working in academia. By employing her invented paper-doll technique, she makes figures that juxtapose the beauty of the human body with the elegance of the typeface. It conveys the jungle of human society wrought with struggle, desire, despair that she witnessed in academic institutions in the US.
