CAA 2024 ANNUAL CONFERENCE

CALL FOR PARTICIPATION

CAA's 112th Annual Conference will be held February 14–17, 2024 at the Hilton Chicago, with a virtual component. The sessions listed below have been accepted by the 2022–2023 Annual Conference Committee and are seeking participants. During this annual Call for Participation, you are invited to search session abstracts and submit your presentation proposals directly to session chairs before August 31.

Most sessions will be held in person, and some will be convened virtually (Zoom). Each session abstract is tagged to show whether it will be held in-person or virtually (Zoom) during the conference dates. Detailed scheduling information will be distributed to session chairs in August.

This page presents only a portion of 2023 conference sessions and content, it does not include Complete Sessions, or Composed Sessions (Individual submissions). The full conference schedule will be posted in early October, 2023.

HOW TO SUBMIT

To find a session using any keyword or name, please search by pressing [Control] + F (Windows) or [Command] + F (Mac) on your keyboard. To view a list of Chairs by last name view the "Author Index" link (above right).

Sessions are listed alphabetically by title. If a CAA Professional Committee or CAA Affiliated Society is participating in the Call for Participation their name is listed with their abstract. The information on this page is listed as it was submitted. For example, if an individual's affiliation is not listed, that means it has not been entered into their myCAA member account.

Before submitting via the button this page or on the session page:

  1. Have a CAA account. Membership not required at this step, if you aren’t a member right now create an account at this link, skip the payment/joining step.
  2. Prepare your Presentation title and Abstract (250 word limit)
  3. A shortened CV (close to 2 pages).
  4. (Optional) Images or Documentation of work; limit to five images that support your proposal.
  5. Submissions due to session chairs by August 31, 2023
    1. Chairs will notify submitters directly of their decision by September 18.

CONFERENCE PARTICIPATION RULES

  • Upon being accepted to a session, presenters must join and/or keep CAA memberships current through the conference dates (you may apply before joining by creating an account here); only members can be added to a session.
  • All session participants must register for the Conference. Registration opens early October 2023.
  • You may submit to multiple sessions but can only deliver one presentation during the conference. If you receive multiple acceptances, you must withdraw all but one by notifying the corresponding session chairs.
  • Your session, presentation, and/or paper content must not have been published previously or presented at another scholarly conference.
  • If you had an individual paper/presentation proposal accepted during CAA's spring submission call, you may still apply to a session listed in this Call for Participation. However, if accepted to multiple sessions, you must withdraw all but one accepted presentation per conference.
  • There are three ways to participate in CAA's Annual Conference, but you cannot serve in any single role more than once per conference:
    • You may serve as a session chair or workshop leader.
    • You may present a paper/project.
    • You may serve as a session discussant.

Key Dates:

  • August 31: Deadline to submit proposals to sessions using the "Submit an Abstract to this Session" button listed with each session below.
  • September 18: Session chair deadline to finalize sessions, inform participants via email invitation. Accepted submitters will receive an email to access their own SC after September 25.
  • October: Conference registration opens, and full conference schedule is posted.
