Typography is the art and technique of arranging types to make written language visually appeal to the readers. Typography may be used as an ornamental and decorative object unrelated to visual communication. Dimensional Typography is a book by J. Abott Miller and published in 1997. It showcased how conventional 3D modeling tools suggest new spaces for typographic communication by using letterforms. New Dimensional TYPE and Typography is a collection of the presenter’s class projects from diverse institutions in America. It is inspired by the book Dimensional Typography and extends the visual territories from the screen to physical and tangible objects using creative coding and digital fabrication. It uses ceramic materials, acrylics, medium-density fiberboard, scratchboard, Etc. Also, the final outputs include brand identity, type installation, accessory design, to new dimensional typographic experience with XYZ coordinates. The presentation will showcase tangible type and typography beyond the screen.
