Building Your Teaching Toolkit – An Equity Focus

Session will present: In-Person
Affiliated Society or Committee Name: Education Committee
This workshop originated with a subcommittee of the CAA Education Committee focused on best practices for preparing graduate students for teaching. This workshop is focused on good teaching and learning strategies and approaches with a focus on inclusion and equity. If successful, we hope to hold similar session at the annual conference with different areas of focus each year.

The facilitators will present mini-lessons on different aspects of the theme. These include designing an equitable syllabus, working with OERs, holding inclusive critiques, and creating welcoming and belonging environments for your students. From these presentations you will break up into small groups where you will workshop the ideas and start to shape them into your own courses. Selected ideas and results will then be shared with all participants as appropriate. This pattern will be used throughout the workshop.

All educators are welcome, regardless of discipline and experience. Come and learn from each other about good teaching. Build up your teaching toolkit.
