Session will present: On location
Affiliated Society or Committee Name: College Book Art Association
Since the 1960s, the field of artist books has witnessed a remarkable expansion of influence, not only permeating libraries and museums, but also transcending disciplinary boundaries. Their unique ability to engage with and challenge standard artistic tropes has propelled them into the forefront of cultural discourse.

Artist books are distinguished by their capacity to foster innovation and their interdisciplinary nature, which can touch on questions of history, art history, literature, printing, critical theory, artistic praxis, and bookmaking.

This call seeks to foster critical dialogue surrounding artist books and book art from a multitude of perspectives. We invite submissions that delve into various facets of book arts criticism and analysis, encompassing themes such as art historical analysis, literary critique, production methodologies, theoretical inquiries, exhibition practices, accessibility concerns, and explorations of cultural, racial, and gender dynamics. We encourage contributions that traverse the intersections of visual, textual, and critical practices, enriching our understanding of the intricate landscape of book art.
