Hot Glue not Hot Mess: Foundation Projects and Practices That Actually Work (and Why We Love Them)
Session will present: On locationAffiliated Society or Committee Name: Foundations in Art: Theory and Education
Let’s be real—teaching in Foundations can feel like a weird blend of art school boot camp, MacGyver-style problem solving, and deep pedagogical soul searching. This panel is a space for Foundation educators to show off their most inventive, risky, or unexpectedly brilliant classroom projects and practices—the ones that make students light up, fail gloriously, or totally surprise you (in the best way). We’re especially interested in projects that use non-traditional materials in innovative ways; reinvent the “foundations” of Foundations; reimagine feedback and assessment as a lifelong tool; bridge classroom learning with research, service, or community work; challenge students to think, make, and question in the age of AI; embrace process over perfection—messy, tactile, ambitious work that brings Foundations students together are welcome!
