Aquaculture

Aquaculture is the fastest growing area of food production and it is expected to play an important role in feeding the increasing population of Earth. However, the development of aquaculture industry is facing serious challenges, that require new approaches. Next-generation sequencing techniques are opening fascinating opportunities in the aquaculture. Data generated by whole genome sequencing will allow geneticists to mine information more effectively about genes and genetic variations associated with important production traits. The generation of improved genomic platforms will result in better utilization of advanced knowledge for aquaculture. The purpose of this workshop is to provide a forum for researchers working on aquacultre genomics to present and discuss their recent research results, share their experience and enhance collaborations.
