Genotyping-by-sequencing is one of the approaches to provide a large number of markers genome wide to generate sufficient coverage and resolution to detect QTLs more accurately. The recent advances in next generation sequencing technology have driven the cost of DNA sequencing down. This has enabled us to explore the potential of genotyping-by-sequencing in oil palm for GWAS and bi-parental studies. QTLs were identified for the traits of interest in the GWAS studies, and validation of these QTLs is in progress.
