Connecting Rice Genomics to Breeding
The proposed workshop would like to bring together rice genomic scientists and breeders to ponder on how to utilize the vast genomic resources that now has been put on public domain for the rice crop improvement. Enormous rice genomics information freely available need to herald a new era of genomics assisted breeding, genome wide association studies (GWAS) and should allow us to understand the genetic networks governing complex traits involving abiotic and biotic stresses. This workshop would be inviting all key researchers concerning with rice genomics to highlight their ongoing efforts to provide useful information for rice breeders to utilize them in their regular breeding programs. Also at the end a panel discussion on how to utilize the available genomics information for rice breeding and empowering rice breeders to exploit such resources for breaking yield barrier, developing climate smart materials with multiple abiotic and biotic stress tolerances, breed resource use efficient materials for both nutrients and water.
