Genome Sequence of a Rubber Tree Hevea brasiliensis: Status 2015
Genome Sequence of a Rubber Tree Hevea brasiliensis: Status 2015
The main genome sequence for Hevea brasiliensis (Para rubber tree), a euphorbiaceous tree for producing latex has decoded. We optimized assemble of the 2.7 billion pair end reads and 1 billion mate pair reads by HiSeq 2000 derived from Hevea brasiliensis PB260 genome. An optimized assembly comprised of 52,712 scaffolds covering 88.8% of the gene-rich regions of the genome, and has N50 of 120 kb and maximum scaffold size of 1.2 Mb. Since the set of scaffolds contains 312 Mb (20.9%) of unknown nucleotides (N's), we added PacBio RS II long reads to increases its coverage and close the gaps. As a result, we obtained an improved set of scaffolds which contains 227 Mb (14.7%) of gaps in total.
