KeyGene’s state of the art crop phenome facility deploys various semi- or fully automated, single- or multiple sensor high throughput platforms to access and measure crop growth and evaluate traits.

In my presentation I will highlight several case studies and present recent innovations in our digital phenotyping capabilities.

One study showcases the successful phenotyping and analysis of a sugar beet crop under water stressed conditions. We demonstrate simultaneous phenotyping of shoots and variation in the root system, which is a very unique application developed at KeyGene.

Another study showcases valuation of a crop protection chemical. These chemicals are often targeted to either protect the plants from diseases or insects, such that the crop can perform to its maximum genetic potential. Using PhenoFab®, our high throughput phenotyping facility, we demonstrated the added value of a crop protection chemical on the physiological gain to the crop, measured digitally by capturing the morphological changes to the crop. This unique application can be used for product valuation and marketing purposes by crop protection companies.
