Fish Genomes and Transcriptomes

The fishes are the most diverse group of vertebrates, represented by >30,000 species. There has been a recent spurt in the number of available fish genomes and transcriptomes with the majority of the ~30 fish genomes being published last year. This workshop would provide a timely and useful platform for fish genomicists, both local and overseas to exchange information and network on the various approaches used to assemble and analyse fish genomes and transcriptomes. This is especially relevant for fishes since their genomes are more complex than those of mammals due to an additional round of teleost-specific genome duplication.
