The National Center for Biotechnology Information (NCBI) is well known for the nucleotide sequence archive, GenBank and the sequence analysis tool BLAST. However, NCBI integrates many types of biomolecular data from variety of sources and makes it available to the scientific public as interactive web resources as well as organized releases of bulk data. Navigating through the large number of genomic and other related ‘omic’ resources can be a challenge to the average researcher. There are many different ways of accessing genomic data at NCBI. Depending on the focus and the goal of the research project or the level of interest, the user would select a particular route for accessing the genomic databases and resources. This presentation will describe the methods of accessing plant and animal  genome data and provide examples that illustrate the use of the analysis tools.
