We have started developing a golden olive flounder stock to produce market scaled golden flounders mainly targeting the Asian market where the golden body color has a great value.  The golden body color of the flounders appears very rarely in nature and first we have tried to get insights into the inheritance pattern of the body color. We crossed the golden color male and normal female to see whether the body color inherits in the mendelian pattern and next we made F1 fullsib intercrosses to see further the genetic characters. So far we have concluded that the inheritance of the body color might be controlled by a single gene and we would be able to isolate the color gene for commercial production.
