The International Consortium for the Pea Genome Sequencing (ICPG) includes scientists from six countries around the world. Its aim is to provide a high quality reference of the pea genome to the scientific community as well as to the pea breeder community. The consortium proposed a strategy that integrates complementary approaches including chromosome sorting, Illumina and PacBio shot-gun sequencing, Bionano optical maps, Whole Genome Profiling physical maps and high resolution genetic maps. Already, a first assembly has been made using Illumina reads from short and large fragment libraries. We are improving the quality and the continuity of the assembly by integrating long PacBio reads and the WGP data. Next strategies and future data integration will be proposed and discussed.
