Transgene stacks are being introduced into soybean as a means to perturb fatty acid biosynthesis which in turn will lead to the production of an oil high in saturated fatty acids, with a concomitant accumulation of elevated oleic acid and reduction in polyunsaturated fatty acids.   To this end data will be presented that outlines a novel genetic approach that results in a soybean oil with palmitic and stearic acids combined percentages over 25%, with oleate levels greater than 40%.
