Accessing SGN Genomes through Tools

Date: Monday, January 12, 2015
Room:
Susan R. Strickler , Boyce Thompson Institute for Plant Research, Ithaca, NY
This section of the workshop will highlight genomes available at SGN and how to access them efficiently through tools. In particular, using the new user interface of SGN BLAST to access the databases of many available datasets and data types will be demonstrated.  JBrowse has now been implemented as the main genome browse at SGN and new data sets from recent research have been loaded along with the original genomes found on our previous genome browser.  Use of the VIGS Tool, for creating and confirming viral-induced gene silencing constructs, will shown.  Other tools available at SGN will be discussed followed by use cases from the Solanaceae to show how these tools can be applied in research. Tips for submitting your own datasets to SGN will also be given.
