Equine genome annotation at NCBI is provided by Eukaryotic Genome Annotation Pipeline by leveraging computational prediction and a limited amount of manual curation. The reagents used in the annotation process include user-provided transcripts and proteins available in GenBank, known RefSeqs, RNA-seq

data and Third-Party Annotation (TPA), High-throughput cDNA (HTC) and Transcriptome Shotgun Assembly (TSA) sequences. Annotation products include genes, transcripts and proteins, which are accessible through several NCBI resources, such as Gene, RefSeq, Nucleotide, Protein, BLAST and Sequence Viewer. Manual curation is performed at both gene and sequence level and includes evidence-based depiction of RefSeq transcripts and proteins, correction of sequence errors and improvement of gene annotation based on QA tests. In this presentation, the new annotation of EquCab 2.0 assembly will be described and compared to the previous annotation. In addition, an overview of the equine genome resources, genomic tools and data access and download options will be provided.
