3735MYcroarray - Planning a Successful Target Enrichment Project [Teaching Workshop]
Target enrichment is a flexible and cost-effective NGS tool that has been employed across a wide variety of plant and animal species, for SNP typing and discovery, genome resequencing, and many other applications. In this workshop we will discuss strategies for designing and executing a successful target enrichment experiment. We will focus on our MYbaits target capture kits, which use fully custom biotinylated RNA baits, and are a popular and cost-effective system for any research design scale. We will start the workshop with strategies for target selection and bait design, which can use any source as a reference (e.g. genome, transcriptome, RAD-seq, shotgun, amplicons). Then we will discuss the critical importance of preparing complex sequencing libraries. We will also outline the materials necessary for performing capture, and how experimental parameters can be adjusted depending on the type of sample and expected sequence divergence from the bait design reference. Finally, our guest speakers will complete the workshop by relating their own successful target capture experiences and design strategies for their diverse applications. Visit us at booth #615 in the exhibit hall.
