Session Proposal: Systems Analysis Tools for Convergent Research in Coupled Human and Natural Systems (AGU25)

SY042
Systems Analysis Tools for Convergent Research in Coupled Human and Natural Systems

Session ID#: 249545

Session Description:
Environmental issues need to be addressed while considering social impacts due to the coupling of human and natural systems. Convergent research integrates social, ecological, and technological aspects to provide holistic understandings from a systems perspective. Contributions to this body of knowledge include procedural developments to guide transformation as well as exploratory studies to elucidate dynamics within the system. However, each system and scenario is unique, necessitating a wide variety of tools, methods, and investigations. We invite abstracts presenting applied tools or theoretical studies that provide insights on the dynamics of human and natural systems and inform environmental governance. We encourage abstracts that: directly bridge divides between academia, government, community, and industry; integrate community voice using convergent methods; further understanding of system complexities through computational simulation tools; and contain creative and artistic expression of concepts.
