Session Proposal: Doing Science Together: Sharing Experiences of Co-creating Earth Scientific Solutions with Communities on the Gulf Coast of United States and Beyond (AGU25)

SY013
Doing Science Together: Sharing Experiences of Co-creating Earth Scientific Solutions with Communities on the Gulf Coast of United States and Beyond

Session ID#: 251661

Session Description:
Collaboration between scientists, experts, students, and communities can lead to long-lasting, real-world solutions, while providing meaningful personal and professional rewards for all involved. When done well, this work centers community voices and needs while connecting to scientific expertise to develop actionable solutions. In this session we will hear from scientists, students, experts, and community members participating in community science, with an emphasis on the Gulf Coast of the United States to learn about their unique challenges and successes.   Presentations will address: Why and how did participants get involved in community science? What are the benefits and challenges of working to support community priorities? What resource support was offered to participants? How was success measured?   Join AGU’s Thriving Earth Exchange, Science and Society, Voices for Science and the Educational Partnerships for Innovation in Communities Network (EPIC-N) to learn more about this important work.
